Supported Programs and Services
All programs and services provided by Palatine Township are available to individuals and families who live within the Township borders, and are qualified based on financial and non-financial factors and guidelines.
Palatine Township provides Emergency Assistance, General Assistance and the Food Pantry year-round. Learn more about them below.
General Assistance
General Assistance (GA) is a public assistance program for adults who are ineligible for other state or federal programs and meet the eligibility guidelines. The General Assistance Office provides financial support, information, referrals and guidance to Township residents facing hardship.
GA dedicates time to advising and counseling some of the most at-risk, distressed, vulnerable residents in the community. There are programs for households experiencing a life-threatening circumstance, as well as those needing assistance to plan their utilities budget.
Food Pantry
The Palatine Township Food Pantry provides free grocery assistance to individuals and families in need who reside within Township boundaries. Serving people from a wide range of backgrounds, the pantry supports an average of 550 families each month.
Operating as a client-choice pantry, visitors are able to select foods based on their household’s preferences and dietary needs, creating a more dignified and personalized experience. Households may visit the pantry once every 30 days to receive groceries at no cost.
In addition to breads, canned goods, and boxed foods, the pantry also offers dairy products and meat, helping ensure families have access to well-rounded, nutritious options. The pantry also has personal hygiene, feminine products, paper products and cleaning supplies.
